Hi. I’m Jean, and this is my blog.

I’ve never been fond of writing about myself. I suppose it just seems the very basic details — that I’m female, thirty-something, living in Virginia, and work in the general field of web design and development — are things you know if you really need to. The rest, the more abstract things — like that my favorite color is green, that I have this bizarre compulsion for having my coffee cups match my outfits — are things that are really best discovered the old fashioned way, rather than me writing a long diatribe about them.

I chose the name easilyoffensive.com in the effort to simply embrace who I am. I can’t say I make an effort to be offensive; I don’t even think I am that offensive. Still, me just saying what I think certainly seems to offend some people – and at 30+ I’m ready to be okay with this. I’m tired of curbing what I say to appease others. Yes, I’ll probably still keep it to myself when I think it isn’t the pants making you look fat – after all, I didn’t choose insensitiveblurting.com. But if I think the president is doing a crappy job, or that the TV show that’s all the rage is actually crap, or that marriage should be available to all people in love and not just heterosexual couples… then I’m just going to say so.

If you can’t be my friend or do business with me because of who I am – then the real problem isn’t that I should have kept my mouth shut, y’know? ;)

Perhaps, somewhere in this commitment to saying what is really on my mind, I’ll find the capacity to actually keep a blog. Or, perhaps I won’t. Most of the college courses I took revolved around writing; I have always loved to write. Fiction, poetry, essays, theses, articles, lyrics – almost anything. I even loved writing book reports in grade school. And yet the simplest and most informal form of writing often eludes me, as I’d stare at the blank entry box… wondering if I should write what I really wanted to write.

I have now decided the answer is going to be yes.

So – this is it, world. For better or worse, boring or interesting, offensive or otherwise – I’ll just be doing my thing here.
